Nico Casal 'Alone' LP
Born in Santiago, Galicia, Nico studied Classical Piano Performance at Vigo University before moving to London in 2011 to pursue a career as a film composer. After years of writing to picture one Sunday in early 2017 Nico wrote for himself. Those original demos are now set for release as his debut album ‘Alone’ on new PIAS imprint Point Of Departure, label home to Alessandro Cortini and Ed Harcout.

In September 2018 Nico performed ‘Alone’ for the first time with his band at Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg.

As a film composer Nico has scored numerous film dramas including the 2016 Oscar-winning film ‘Stutterer’. The film brought him to the attention of the mainstream media, especially in his native Spain where he has featured in many broadsheet publications and performed live on Saturday night TV show Late Motiv multiple times.

Nico’s music has previously been heard in different media outlets across the world, including advertising campaigns for British Airways, Estrella and HSBC and across all the promotional films for Wimbledon Championships since 2016. Nico’s latest feature film, ‘Sunday’s Illness’, is 2018’s Number 1 Film On Netflix in ShortList Magazine.

Nico has already built up a reputation for performing unique piano covers and in 2017 was personally invited by Katy Perry to a perform a solo-piano version of her new album ‘Witness’ live on YouTube to her 30 million subscribers.

Nico is also a prolific writer and arranger and has released collaborations with dance producer and The xx remixer Edu Imbernon and UK band Aquilo for Island Records.
