Hibushibire return with their fifth studio album, Phantom Fuzzy Exotica. The Osaka quartet keep pushing deeper into their own singular world, with a sound that feels fully theirs.

Phantom Fuzzy Exotica brings together psychedelia, 70s hard rock and folk rock, letting those influences meet in all the right places. There are short, punchy, riff-heavy tracks, mellow breathing spaces, and the band’s trademark epic psych jams.

There are more vocals than before, but the balance still feels right. It’s a rich, varied record that shows Hibushibire continuing to explore, stretch out and deliver exactly what makes them such a rewarding listen.
