The trumpeter’s classic 1964 hard-bop album. His fourth Blue Note LP. Recorded at The Van Gelder Studio on 1st April 1963. Produced by Alfred Lion. Featuring a red-hot band of Joe Henderson (tenor sax), Herbie Hancock (piano), Butch Warren (bass) and Tony Williams (drums). Showcasing three excellent Dorham originals (the fiery, bossa nova-tinged title track, ‘Sao Paolo’ and ‘Straight Ahead’) plus the Lerner/Loewe standard ‘If Ever I Would Leave You’.
