2Tone legend Rhoda Dakar is back with another reggae infused cover after the huge success of her latest album Version Girl. Originally written by Peter Shelley of Buzzcocks, ‘I Don’t Mind’, is the latest to receive the Rhoda treatment, with artwork once again designed by Sheffield’s finest Pete McKee.
I Don’t Mind is a wonderful tribute to one of Rhoda’s all-time favourite songwriters -“In 2015, when Pete Shelley remarked on me being “back again” to see The Buzzcocks, I was finally able to say that I considered him one of our greatest living songwriters! Don’t quote me, but he may have responded with “you what?””
As with Rhoda’s previous four Sunday Best singles, Rhoda and her band recreate the classic sound of early Jamaican reggae. The song was recorded at Perry Vale Studios in London and produced by guitarist Lenny Bignell, who has worked with almost every legacy Reggae artist. They were accompanied by bassist Andi McLean, drummer Marley Drummond, pianist Roger Rivas, Trumpeter Evan Clegg and Trombonist Robin Hopcraft
